JANIE
JACKSON first burst into print
at the tender age of eight, but she cut her professional writing
teeth in Fleet Street as a member of the National Union of
Journalists. She subsequently turned to freelance writing
and has been widely published in a number of magazines and
newspapers. Under her pen name Lisa Charles, she has written
three romantic novels and five books for children. As a P.R.
woman, she’s worked for a leading travel company and,
for six years, edited the staff newspaper and the customer
magazine for a public utility. She is a member of the Society
of Women Writers and Journalists and the Women Writers Network.
CASS
JACKSON came to writing via teaching
– hence his popularity as a lecturer and speaker at
seminars and conferences. As a Reiki Master, healer, astrologer
and herbalist, he has written nine books on complementary
therapies and his work has been published in a variety of
magazines. He has also published several books on various
aspects of writing and on positive thinking. He is an editor
and short story writer, whose experience includes broadcasting
and publicity work.
THE TWO OF US
We’re both members of the Society of Authors and widely
experienced in most aspects of the writing life. We’re
competition adjudicators, tutors, lecturers and facilitators.
We write books, short stories, articles, press releases and
advertising material. As the titles of our most recent publications
indicate, our current interests are in the Mind/Body/Spirit
genre, complementary medicine and personal development but
we’ll write about almost anything on request.
Some years ago we wrote and tutored a distance learning course
about writing romantic novels. We eventually sold this, but
it is still available from the new publisher. We’ve
been tutors for a course on writing for children and still
enjoy working for an international correspondence school.
THE PERSONAL BIT
We recently celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary –
it’s second time around for both of us. We each have
a son and a daughter and, between us, nine grandchildren.
Over our years together, we’ve moved around the country
quite a bit, living in Sussex, London, Surrey, and Lincolnshire.
We’re now happily settled in Bournemouth where our black/white
cat Lucy allows us to live with her. She’s a very literary
cat, obsessed with pens, which she bats all over the carpet
– with disastrous results!
